Northern Edge Outposts

Northern Edge Outposts was formed in 2020 after acquiring our first outpost on Carling Lake. Since then, we have added two additional locations: Roadhouse Lake & Tom’s Landing on Lac Suel. Like most fishing locations around Northwestern Ontario, walleye and northern pike are the main species, however we have acquired camps that give the angler an opportunity to target others which include lake trout, bass, and muskie.

We work closely with Ryan from Slate Falls Outposts who operates an additional 9 outposts of his own. Check out his webpage at www.slatefallsoutposts.com which will help answer any questions you may have in regards to booking your next vacation. Have a look at our lake options below and give Ryan or myself a call to book your next fishing adventure with us.

CARLING LAKE

Just a 25 minute flight from Sioux Lookout, Carling Lake offers a lot for the avid angler. In addition to the main species of walleye and Northern, Carling Lake is also home to many lake trout which are a blast to catch and always put up a good fight. With depths of up to 120 feet, there are plenty of areas to discover with the many bays and fingers that make up the structure of this lake. A 45 minute boat ride to the South will take you past scenic rock walls as you make your way towards Mask Lake. Keep an eye out for the ancient pictographs before arriving at Mask which is the head of the Vermilion River and offers some of the best walleye fishing on this lake system. Don’t forget to take a little extra gas for the journey.

The south-facing two bedroom cabin is located on a small beach which has a great kitchen area, shower room, solar lighting, fridge, and freezer. A deck off the front allows you to take in the sunshine for most of the day. A small back deck has the deep fryer and BBQ with walkways to the unique boat covered outhouses. A small overflow cabin allows for those seeking a little privacy or some peace and quiet from the snorer in your group. Honda 15 hp with electric start on 14 foot boats are an added feature for Carling Lake in 2026.

ROADHOUSE LAKE

Roadhouse Lake is located 74 miles North of Sioux Lookout and was once known as the “Taj Mahal” of walleye fishing by the late legendary outfitter, Knobby Clark. Today, we refer to it as the Walleye Factory with incredible walleye fishing right at the cabin where lunch can be caught from the dock. This unique location is fed by two inflows, the Roadhouse River to the SW and the infamous Cat River from Bamaji Lake located right at the cabin. The Roadhouse River flows in from Gage Lake providing an extensive area to explore when the water levels permit. Roadhouse has numerous bays and endless structure to explore for those wanting to get out and about to hunt for large Northern and new hotspots. Heading to the south, the lake eventually flows into Blackstone Lake via 4 exit points which in turn feeds Lake St. Joe, a well known SFO location.

The spacious cabin has 4 bedrooms and holds up to 10 guests. Just like all the other outposts it has a solar system with power to run starlink, cpaps and personal charging while at camp. The living area has lots of room to relax with your group as well as a nice open kitchen. A screened in porch accommodates a BBQ and blackstone grill as well as an area to sit. Outside there is a large deck with a “unique” designated area to cook up the day’s catch. It has a screened in fish cleaning shed with running water. There are five 14 foot boats with 15hp Honda motors all with electric start. Two slip docks make it a breeze to access the boats after a hard day of fishing.

TOM’S LANDING ON LAC SEUL

Tom’s Landing is located on the prime waters of the famous Lac Seul. Formerly owned by Anderson’s Lodge, Tom’s Landing is accessible via floatplane or boat. Taking your own boat in takes about an hour and a half from Deception Landing. Fishing on Lac Seul pretty much speaks for itself, being possibly the top drivable lake in Canada for Walleye, Pike, Bass, and trophy Muskie. The cabin is located just 5 minutes north of Chamberlain Narrows offering immediate access to endless walleye with the entrance of Wapesi Bay just a short distance up the lake. Check out the Lindner’s Angling Edge 2026 YouTube video featuring this location and their hunt for trophy Muskie.

The camp features a walkway heading to a cabin with a capacity for 10 people, as well as a fish-cleaning house and designated bbq and deep frying location. Solar power with generator back up allows light 120v charging for cpap machines and personal devices. An electric fridge and deep freeze give you all the conveniences of home while taking in the spectacular Canadian landscape. The camp is equipped with 5-sixteen foot Lund boats with floors featuring 25hp electric start motors and all boats come equipped with high back boat seats, nets, anchors, life jackets and minnow buckets.
